Allegories

I think that an allegory is a very nice way to show an idea of a feeling that can or cannot be shown in a direct way. An allegory can offer more ideas about a toppic and because of the way it is explained we pay more attention to it, and therefore, we learn more and can remember it like a story and not only as a simple concept. It gives a complete concept of something, for expample love, it can be nice, but ot also can make you suffer. In a way it shows both sides of the coin, like the image for "Justice", it is suppose to be blind (equals for all), but in real life sometimes this doesn't happen. Knowing now what an allegory is, I am sure the next time I see a picture I will look carefully to it, and try to undertsand what the artist is trying to express.

The Masque of the Red Death

In my point of view, this story is interesting; even though I did't like it that much.
It is interesting because I learned what a pun is. In the story it is used with the word masque. This is a very important fact for the story, because the Price Prospero organized a party in the abbey, it was a masquerade, but when the death arrived, it didn't have any mask.

I didn't like this story that much, because I consider there are many descriptions that can be omitted, and I would heve liked that there was a dialogue between the death and the Prince.
The fact that the death arrives to the party and kills everyone just like that, is in my point of view a little bit boring. I like the stories with more suspense.
I also consider it wasn't a good ending.

The Pit and the Pendulum

I think that Edgar Allan Poe is a great writer, but I cannot explain myself how he can write so well, because he had passed through a difficult childhood.
He was buried alive two times; I cannot imagine a think like that happening to me, besides his parents died when he was a child, and his wife died two years after they got married, I think that these are some of the main reasons of why he liked to write horror stories. He knew how to write, and in my opinion he was afraid of what he passed through his life, but he knew how to take advantage of it. (It isn’t brave the one who doesn’t have fear, but the one who knows how to conquer it.)
I liked a lot this story, because it really made me feel anxious, he knew how to manage the ideas of the story. I also liked the description of how the character felt, maybe Poe was comparing his own experience with his story.

Night

How can a person live hating that much other human beings?
I cannot imagine suffering the way Jews suffer during the World War Second.

Night is really a good book, it has many values, and it makes you think about the difference between having a good or a bad life; if you have the chance to do something you just need to do it, and don’t wait until there is no time.
Sometimes people refuse to believe what is real, and begin to be optimistic, this is the easiest way to escape from what you are afraid of, but it is not the best.

Most of the times, this kind ok books make me have many questions, because I don’t know what to think about humans in general. For example books show you the cruelties that were done during the war, but also the strength of the human heart.
Faith is a quality all humans have, but it is the decision of each one of us to use it for good or bad things.

I think that wars are originated because of two things: sometimes humans cannot accept the differences between one and others. Sometimes humans are so puffed up with pride that it is hard to say “I am sorry” or to forgive someone, but we don’t consider this option is one of the worst ones, because life will become full of rancor and it will also be harder to forget.

A Sound of Thunder

What Ray Bradbury likes to do the most is writing, but to become a good writer he had to pass through many things; for example, de didn’t have a nice childhood, he didn’t have the opportunity to go to school, and besides that his firsts works were rejected, but he achieved his goal, he is one of the most recognized writers.
For me, he is not only a good writer ¡, but also a person who not only wished something, he continued trying until he achieved his goal, without forgetting that dreaming can hurt you if you forget to live.

In the story he uses a technique I like a lot, the foreshadowing; it really made me think about the different possibilities for the plot of the story.
The story is very interesting; it has a really nice setting that was one of the things that captured my attention since the very beginning.
The story has an interesting topic and it is that maybe in the future the humans will be able to travel through time.
The theme of the story for me is that the things that you do in the present will have echo for the rest of the eternity.

what is art?

Art for me is a way that human beings have to express what they feel for someone, for something or to simply express and idea (dream).
Art can be expressed in many different ways, for example: with paintings, movements, music, writing, etc.
The facts that contribute a lot in the kind and also the technique of the piece of art a person is doing are: the country you live in, the culture of your country, also the way you are, and the way you think.
Human beings are equal, but at the same time we are all different; because we all have two legs, two eyes, a nose, two arms, etc, but we all have different ideas, feelings, etc. All kinds of art are all equal, but also different.

The Witness for the Prosecution
It is a great story, it is very mysterious.
I liked the end, it was a surprising ending. I wasn’t expecting Leonard to be guilty; I didn’t pay much attention to the most important clue, the fact that Romaine was an actress. Other important part is when Leonard told Mr. Mayherne that she was devoted to him.
A part in which I got confuse is when Janet declares that she heard Miss Emily French talking with someone, who?
I liked the story, but I think it is unjust for Romaine, even though it was like her own decision.

California's Tale
For me it is a very interesting short story, because the setting of these one is quite different to the ones I'm used to read; the way the story begins is also unusual, because it doesn't really have an exposition of events it goes directly to the inciting incidents.
In this story I got a little bit confused, because there is an outsider narrator and he doesn’t know all the information until the end of the story, and in this part I got disappointed, because I didn’t expected Henry’s wife to be dead.
It is a great story and there are some values in it, but in my opinion the most important is about friendship, because Joe, Tom, and Charley had been helping Henry throughout 19 years. Friendship doesn’t spring up of time, it’s from the heart.
